Yes the IS should be much quicker. Essentially the same power, actually a couple of hp more due to more efficient exhaust manifolds, and less weight. Gearing should make acceleration quicker too given the extra ratios in the gearbox, hopefully that will outweigh the loss of power during more gear changes.

I only wish my F Sport had the leather that you mention - I'm sure it is synthetic

My Fsport has the Leather memory heated ventalated seats which are superbly comfortable and excellent quality. & a £2k option!! No marks or wear showing after 20k miles. The base spec XE has fabric seats.

I've also got the memory/ventilated seats and they are excellent. I've 23k on the clock and the bolster on the right side of the drivers seat is beginning to show wear. I'm in and out of the car quite a few times a day, it will be interesting to see how bad it gets. Not sure if there's an easy repair/refurb option.

I too have the memory ventilated leather seats. Had to have the seat base replaced under warranty due to movement when braking and my dealer damaged the leather  Still waiting for this to be resolved some two months later - they seem to be waiting for a new demonstrator to arrive and they will just swap over the whole seat.
