Is It Possible.......

Recommended Posts

to get a name and address from a registration number.

I have video evidence of a vehicle/driver with no idea of lane discipline, cutting me up and almost smashing into me recently.

I would love to put the video on a DVD and send it to them for them to see how poor their driving is.

You can check on the DVLA web site so see if it is taxed and Mot'd - it not, report it to the police with your video edidence.

You can gain a name / address from the web for the reg number

Its not possible from the DVLA website, otherwise anybody could track you down if they wanted to steel your car

I think you have to form the DVLA with a good reason and pay them £2.50 or something and theyll release the name and address.

I hope it is not possible.

Imagine the implications if it were.

You would be open to all kind of abuse, justified or not, to even more sales people targetting you and calling you out of the blue (assuming your number is listed), and burglars targetting your house whilst on holiday....

Dont worry its not possible at all. Just checked their website!

The only way you can do it is if you call DVLA, give a good explanation e.g. car ran into you and drove off, you got their number plate.

However - if you were to set yourself up as a 'bona fide' 'parking organisation' and a member of one of their very dubious member associations (and I use the term Bona fide' very loosely here) and then be prepared to pay the DVLA for personal information related to who a vehicle is registered to - then, yes the information would be readily be availabel to you!
