Head Gasket failure?
Hi all, I’m worried that my head gasket might be on its way out. My Lexus CT200 is a 2011 plate on 86k which I only purchased in June on 82K. I’ve noticed this past couple of weeks I’ve been experiencing frequent rough idles in traffic and when driving at low speeds. Additionally, I have seen white smoke come out when this has occurred. My coolant seems to be on the low side too which is starting to make feel this is a HGS issue. Is it worth paying someone to clean my EGR and inta
Headlight ballast controller issues
I have just had the near side dipped beam bulb replaced on my 2007 Lexus 400h but it won’t light up. So I have been advised it’s the ballast controller which I understand is attached to the back of the headlight cluster itself. 2 Questions. 1) Does the ballast controller affect only the dipped beam? 2) I if I need to remove the headlight cluster, can you give me a step by step guide to do so, please, or direct me to a post or video? thank you in advance Gordon
All season tyres
When I got my new ultra light alloy wheels on my LS430 I hand Dunlop all season tyres fitted. Now I'm on day 4 of snow and ice. Tyres perform brilliantly. Tonight I took my usual route home from visiting my friend who is not very well. Took their dogs out for a walk. Never took into account a 1 in 5 hill with a 90 degree right hand turn. Got up the hill slowly with traction control engaged. Never switched on snow mode as LS430 would drive normally. What surprised me was one I could get up hill.
GS300H
Had my IS250 for 10 years almost and just looked at a GS300H, just wondering has anyone got anything I should look at/ask the dealer about?
Winter/snow tires NX300h Premium sport
First snow up here since I got my 2020 car back in May. Went out to see how it went and it went not too good - nothing untoward but wasn’t driving as I’d hoped to the road conditions . It’s the tires I think which are currently Yokohama Blueearth e51 225/60 r18. I was to.d they were all season but they’re definitely not! Can anyone recommend reasonably priced winter/snow tires as I need them as a priority as I live in remote north east Scotland. Thank you
How to use a voltage detector - advice please.
I've bought a Multivao voltage detector and (pathetic of me, I know) would just like to check what to do before I try it. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09NPMP8CB/ref=ox_sc_act_title_6?smid=A2FUUB3BA17SZ1&psc=1 It seems that I should stick it in the cigarette lighter, start the car without my foot on the brake, and it should display a number, hopefully over 12? If that is correct, (I'm aware I must get into "ready" mode asap) do I then put my foot on the brake and press
