Right recieved my quick shift yesterday, even though they wrote the wrong address on it and i had to collect from next door, (don't think it'll fit his mobility scooter.)

First things first THE KIT DOES NOT COME WITH A GEAR KNOB!

so you'll have to reuse your standard one.

It does however come with a very good set of instructions (except you need a 5mm allan key not 4 as it stats for the new bolts)

but here are some fitting pics to help anyone:

Remove the Gaiter

And the two little screws from the side of the centre console

Remove both rubber covers, then the four bolts and lift out the metal cover, once you've unclipped the cables off the side.

Lift up the rubber cover around the stick, take out the next four screws and lift it out.

And heres what the resulting hole looks like:

Push the new one in, may need a tad of force the plastic thing on the bottom will need to go down straight to fit properly.

The stick should be leaning to the right.

There is a clip around the new gaiter i just fitted it pointing forward can't see it in instructions properly.

Use the new bolts provided to screw it down. then the top rubber cover (the bottom will not fit anymore).

The then new cover and the gaiter voila!

My good it's made a difference. The shift isn't just short its non exsistent! Gonna take a bit of getting used too.

To put it in reverse you've got to push it a tad harder but overall i love it!

Its great aint it! Love mine, everyone who has a go in the car always comment on how short the shift is!

I find it easier to get in reverse if you do it as one action! Rather than push the gear knob towards reverse and then push it into reverse you will find it easier to do it as one movement! from nutural push the lever straight into reverse, takes a little getting used to but easy when you know how! Even my mum has mastered it!

Although i did drop my car off at rac autowindscreens the other day to have a chip replaced and when i come back to pick the car up they told me that 3 of them struggled for 30 minutes trying to find reverse and in the end they pushed it out of the workshop!

Did you happen to measure the throw of the standard lever, and the throw of the new lever? So we can see what percentage it has changed by?!

Stav, 2 questions:

You say when fitting the new shifter it should sit to the left, but the manual says it leans towards the driver???

Also, you mention fitting the new gator......there is no gaitor supplied in my kit? I presume its the original gator that goes back on??

Sorry that's just me not being able to know my left and right, duly changed, the drivers side is right.

The clip around the new gaiter is the rubber gator that comes down over the blue pivot point.

what tools are needed matey? just a screwdriver? reason i ask is because my bro's nicked off with my tool box and only have a few screwdrivers and trusty hammer lying around...
